The Cloquet Police Department has identified and charged several juveniles with vandalism at the former Cloquet Middle School building.

According to the CPD press release Monday, the department began an investigation shortly after the damage had been reported June 25.

The juveniles broke windows, spray-painted graffiti and sprayed fire extinguishers in the former school. The damages are estimated to be about $38,000.

The detectives discovered a forgotten backpack with a name inside that had been left in the school. Within 24 hours of the discovery of the damages, five juveniles were identified and several have confessed to the vandalism. They have all been charged with second-degree burglary and first-degree damage to property.
