The Transfusion Service of Community Memorial Hospital has successfully passed its assessment and been granted accreditation by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB). CMH has been an accredited sustaining member of AABB since 1989.
Accreditation follows an intensive biannual on-site assessment by specially trained AABB assessors and establishes that the level of medical, technical and administrative performance within the facility meets or exceeds the standards set by AABB.
By successfully meeting those requirements, Community Memorial Hospital is one of approximately 1800 facilities across the United States and abroad that has earned AABB Accreditation.
Since 1958 AABB has been engaged in the accreditation of blood banks and transfusion services. It is an international non-profit membership organization dedicated to advancing the field of transfusion medicine and other related biological therapies. AABB sets standards, accredits facilities, publishes books and publications and produces educational programs to improve patient and donor safety.
AABB Accreditation is the designation of choice for blood banking because it demonstrates an organization's commitment to learning and continuous improvement by striving to sustain the highest possible level of patient care.
