You are invited to join the Cloquet Middle School Parent Book Club on Wednesdays, Nov. 7, 14, 21 and 28, from 6-7 a.m., or from 6:45-7:45 p.m., in the middle school's media center.
In his new book, "NO: Why Kids - of All Ages - Need to Hear It and Ways Parents Can Say It," Minnesota best-selling author Dr. David Walsh shares how always saying "yes" to our children's wants and desires undermines the universal qualities, virtues like self-control, perseverance, integrity and self-discipline, that our children need to be successful in school and in life. He also provides straightforward advice and tools for making "no" a positive influence on kids' behavior, school performance and success. As Dr. Walsh would say, "'No' is not the destination. It's the road to 'yes' and success for our kids."
This fall, a first-ever, statewide conversation about the power of "no" will start, and Cloquet Middle School is hosting a book read and discussion groups as part of the Minnesota "Say Yes to No" campaign.
To enroll in the book club, contact the Cloquet Middle School at (218) 879-3328 for an enrollment form, which needs to be turned in to CMS by Oct. 24.
The cost of the book is $8.40 and scholarships are available to those who can utilize them.
