On Aug. 4, Community Memorial Hospital will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a series of special events for the public.
A ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary is scheduled for the exact date that CMH first opened its doors in 1958. It will begin at 10:30 a.m. on the hospital lawn.
Speakers will include Lawrence Yetka, member of the original hospital board; Dr. Byron Backus, original staff physician; Bonnie Kloskowski, original staff nurse; Becky Lourey, former state representative; and Stan DeMenge. former director of Environment Services.
These individuals will reflect on the efforts to create Community Memorial Hospital, as well as other aspects of health care over the past 50 years.
Following the ceremony there will be tours of the radiology department and the laboratory, and at 11:30 a.m. everyone is invited to a free barbecue lunch on the hospital lawn.
