Greetings from Auxiliary 3979!

We are in search of our first male Auxiliary member. I believe that once we get No. 1, then others will follow. Yes, eligible males can now join. We meet the first Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Cloquet VFW Post. An application can be picked up at the VFW any time and they are open.

The past commanders/past presidents dinner Sept. 15 was well attended and delicious. The guest speaker was Mike Waldron from the 23rd Veterans Program. It was an insightful presentation about veterans suicide awareness and heartfelt by many.

Lil LaVoy, Alma Ojala, Linda Erickson and I attended the District 8 meeting Oct. 9 in Gilbert.

The Kids’ Halloween Party was held Oct. 23 at the Armory, and it was well attended and fun was had by all.

Cristy House, Linda Erickson, Alma Ojala and other Auxiliary members have been doing a great job with the Retired Men’s Group meeting/dinner, served the second and fourth Wednesday of the month for $10.

Our Veterans Day Dinner was held Friday, Nov. 11. We teamed up with the American Legion each year to offer a free turkey dinner to veterans.

The Auxiliary will participate in Cloquet’s Home for the Holidays Celebration on Dec. 3 with a craft and bake sale, country store, and “soup kitchen,” serving up turkey noodle, beef barley and split pea and ham soups for $5 a bowl.

Stay safe, stay informed, and be involved.
