The Cloquet Public Library will host a free film screening of the film, "Suddenly Sami" on Monday, June 14, at 6:30 p.m.
"Suddenly Sami" is a personal film about identity. During the director's childhood and youth in
Oslo, her mother never told her about her indigenous Sami background in the Arctic area of Norway.
Why didn't she? And how can the director suddenly become Sami in the middle of life? And does
she really want to?

The film was directed by Ellen-Astri Lundby, an independent filmmaker and producer who has produced and directed several short films, both fiction and documentaries.
Her films usually have a humorous touch, even when dealing with serious topics.
The event is sponsored by the Cloquet Public Library, the Sami Siida of North America, Cloquet Sons of Norway Heimsyn Lodge #15 and Baiki: The International Saami Journal.
The movie lasts 58 minutes, with Norwegian and English subtitles, and there will be a discussion following the film. The public is invited to attend.
