Cloquet Mayor Bruce Ahlgren has been selected to serve on a study group to examine the current system of state funding to local governments.
Ahlgren received a letter to that effect from the Senate Committee on Taxes and Property Taxes Division last week. He, along with five other Senate appointees and six House of Representatives appointees, will make recommendations to the legislature on improvements to the system by Dec. 15, 2010.
Members of the study group include those on the state tax committee and representatives of local units of government.
