MIDWAY TOWNSHIP, Minn. — A 32-year-old Cloquet man was hospitalized Friday after being hit by an SUV during an alleged road rage confrontation.

According to a Tuesday news release from the Cloquet Police Department, the man was conscious when he was transported to a local hospital by a Cloquet Area Fire District ambulance.

Police did not know the victim's current condition Tuesday.

Officers reported to a call around 5:40 p.m. Friday about a man lying on the side of Minnesota Highway 45. Upon further investigation, officers determined that an initial disturbance over parking issues led to a road rage incident between two groups.

Two men were "enraged" over parking issues near 15th Street and Cloquet Avenue, police said.

As one group left in their vehicle, another followed. The vehicles struck each other, causing one SUV to enter a ditch.

A man from the vehicle exited and walked into the road.

The other SUV turned around and approached the crash scene. As the vehicle approached, it struck the man.

The driver suspected of striking the man, a 38-year-old Cloquet woman, fled the scene but was located shortly after. Authorities did not name the driver or victim Tuesday.

Police requested the Carlton County Attorney's office review the case for possible charges.
