Washington Elementary School students in Cloquet raised $23,490 for the American Heart Association.

During the record-breaking 23rd annual event Feb. 26, students jumped rope during their physical education class to help fight heart disease, according to physical education specialist Patty Rothamel.

There were 86 students who made the "100 Club" by raising $100 or more "to help kids with special hearts," Rothamel said.
