It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and with the holiday less than two weeks away, the Carlton County area has truly begun to open their hearts and their pocketbooks to those less fortunate than themselves.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and with the holiday less than two weeks away, the Carlton County area has truly begun to open their hearts and their pocketbooks to those less fortunate than themselves.

According to Captains Tim and Jen Gardner of the Cloquet office of the Salvation Army, the county's Christmas Kettle Campaign had already yielded $23,103 by Tuesday this week. Captain Tim said that's about $5,000 ahead of this time last year - and a great start on the campaign goal of $37,000.

Bellringers will be collecting donations at Super One and Wal-Mart in Cloquet and at Marketplace Foods in Moose Lake through Dec. 23.
