Organizers of last Saturday's Chili Cook-off for Special Olympics were very pleased with the turnout at the Northeastern Saloon, generating over $850.

There were 15 entrants, including one from the Duluth Police Department, who put their chili to the ultimate taste test of six judges.

The cook-off was sponsored by the Sunnyside Plungers, a group of employees from Sunnyside Health Care Center and Community Memorial Hospital. The Sunnyside Plungers will participate in the Polar Bear Plunge on February 3 in Duluth. All of these events are designed to raise money for Special Olympics.

Cook-off organizer, Deb Kucera, said she was gratified by the community support, and there will definitely be another Chili Cook-off next year.
