World-renowned watercolor artist Cheng-Khee Chee has crafted a series of original watercolor paintings featuring beautiful birds of our region in a 2008 calendar available for purchase at all North Shore Bank of Commerce locations. Proceeds from the calendar will benefit the Program of Promise.
The Program of Promise is a Duluth based, non-profit organization supporting at-risk young adults in our community. Programs include helping 14- to 22-year-olds finish high school or pass their GED exam, computer training, resume writing, job hunting and getting into college.
"We see a lot of need for these types of services in Duluth," Program of Promise Director Judy Phifer said. "We really focus our attention on working with young people who are surviving but want to take the next step and do more with their lives."
The Birds of Promise calendars cost just $15 and are available for purchase at all North Shore Bank locations, while supply lasts.
"It is a true honor to gain this type of support from Mr. Chee and North Shore Bank," Phifer said. "This support helps us get the word out about our program and hopefully will lend us the financial support we need to continue helping young adults in the Twin Ports."
