Cloquet-Esko-Carlton's bid to upset Duluth East ended in a 2-0 loss Tuesday night at Public Schools Stadium. The Jacks gave up two goals in a three-minute span late in the first half and were eventually eliminated from the Section 7A tournament.
The first half was a tightly played affair until the 33rd minute when the Greyhounds got a goal from Anders Sandholm. Mitchell Johnson set up the goal on a corner kick and Sandholm jumped and headed the ball past CEC goalie Tyler Marquardt.
In the 36th minute, just three minutes after the first tally, East scored again. This time it was Joe Nelson pumping the shot in on a pass from Rob Johnson.
CEC, which finishes the season at 12-4-1, managed some chances in the second half on the Greyhounds, but couldn't get anything past Evan Odean.
Marquardt finished with six saves on eight shots and Odean made five saves for East.

- The Lumberjacks gained entry into the semifinals with a quarterfinal 3-0 win over Chisago Lake Saturday afternoon.
The first half was a scoreless duel against Chisago Lakes, but in the second half, the Jacks broke it open with goals by Anthony Wood, Matt Palmquist and another goal by Wood. Palmquist assisted on Wood's first goal and third goal, and Wood assisted on the Palmquist marker. Wood finished with two goals and one assist and Palmquist added one goal and two assists.
In the nets it was Tyler Marquardt providing the shutout with a total of 18 saves.
