Catherine Marie Smith, 56, of LaCrosse, Wis., passed away Monday, March 26, 2007, in LaCrosse after a brief illness. She was born Jan. 25, 1951, in Cloquet to Benjamin and Lucy (Coffey) LaDuke. Catherine was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by her husband, children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Elgin Smith; children, Kirsty (Dave) Taylor of Duluth, Jennifer Poier of Duluth and Amanda Smith of Albin, Iowa; grandchildren Del-Rio Taylor, Donte Taylor and Maliki Smith; sisters, Julia Reynolds of Cloquet and Angelique Coffey of Duluth; and brothers, Sylvester (Shirley) LaDuke of Mora, Minn., and Bruce LaDuke of Cloquet.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 28, from 5-8 p.m. in Handevidt Funeral Home, 900 Washington Avenue, Cloquet. The visitation will resume Thursday, March 29, from noon until the 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Family Catholic Church, 280 Reservation Road, Cloquet. Interment will be in New Holy Family Cemetery, Cloquet.
