Carlton High School Peer Helpers donned hats from the Cat in the Hat books and ventured into the elementary classrooms to share the joy of reading with the younger students. Reading Dr. Seuss books to the students created many opportunities to laugh at the funny, creative words and illustrations in his books and share the joy of reading.

Peer helpers in the sixth-grade classes worked with students to create their own page in a special book they put together for their teacher. Each page featured a photograph of the student wearing the Cat in the Hat special hat and personal words of wisdom for their teacher.

"Reading at the elementary school is one of the Peer Helpers' favorite events," said Deb Saunders, Peer Helper advisor. "Many of these books were their personal favorites growing up and coming back to their old school to share that with a young child creates special memories for them."
