A strong week of practice helped the Cromwell Cards refocus last week and the result was a 43-6 victory over the Hill City Hornets.
"We had a really good week of practice and dominated the game," mentioned Cards coach Jeff Gronner. "Going into the McGregor game we had a not-so-good week of practice."
Cromwell wasted little time by scoring twice in both the first two quarters to take a 29-0 halftime lead. Cody Hendrickson had touchdown passes of 17 and 50 yards to Shale Korpela and Tyler Burggraff in the first quarter. In the second quarter, it was a 1-yard touchdown run by Hendrickson and another 3-yard touchdown run by Hendrickson, giving his team a big halftime lead.
"The offensive line is playing really well, run blocking and pass blocking for us," explained Gronner. "My three senior interior linemen - Taylor Forconi, Evans Hakamaki and Ethan Hutar - have really excelled all season on offense."
Hendrickson hit Jordan Smith for a 15-yard touchdown in the third quarter and Adam Smith added a 4-yard touchdown run in the same quarter as the Cards led it 43-0 at the end of three quarters. The Hornets scored their lone touchdown late in the final stanza.

Tyler Burggraff added three catches for 148 yards and a score, and Jordan Smith recorded five catches for a touchdown. Adam Smith added 141 all-purpose yards and on defense, Hendrickson and Burggraff both had 12 tackles with Hendrickson adding an interception.
The Cards are now 7-0 on the season and ranked No. 2 in the nine-man football polls.
