In the early morning hours of June 9, the Carlton County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a burglary to the athletic storage building on the grounds of the Robert Johnson Memorial Park. Suspects forcibly entered the building and removed a substantial amount of baseball and softball equipment.
The reported loss/damage exceeded $4,000 and Barnum youth softball and baseball players suffered undue hardship.
Deputies interviewed and recovered evidence related to the burglary and then discovered the names of the people who committed the thefts.
On June 10, investigators discovered a substantial amount of the reported stolen property being hidden adjacent to the apartment complex in Barnum. Investigators subsequently interviewed suspects who ultimately admitted their involvement in the incident.
Sheriff Kelly Lake expects charges to be filed against two juvenile males and one adult male. All recovered property has been returned to the Barnum School District.
