Carlton County, Mn --- According to District 1 of the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), northbound I-35 at the Moorehead Road overpass of the freeway, will close to all traffic for one evening between the hours of 10:00 PM on Monday April 30, 2007 until 5:00 AM on Tuesday, May 1, 2007.
The single evening closure of I-35 at this location will allow crews from Redstone Construction Company of Mora, Minnesota to replace a structural beam on the bridge that was seriously damaged by an illegal over height vehicle. Officials at MnDOT said that the operator of the vehicle that caused this $145,000 damage has been identified and their insurance carrier will be paying the full cost of the repairs to the bridge.
During this short freeway closure, traffic will be detoured via a safe and well marked detour route consisting of Highways 210 and 45.
This portion of the bridge repair project is weather dependent and, in the event of rain, the night time detour will be scheduled as weather conditions allow.
