The Barnum girls took home another win Saturday when they beat the Grand Rapids Thunderhawks 68-57.

"Grand Rapids was a state-ranked 3A school, so the win was a big one for us," said head coach Randy Myhre. "We played seven players and they all made huge contributions to the win."

Junior Katrina Newman led the scoring with 31 points and also made 11 rebounds, while junior Darian Bushey was outstanding on the defensive end and had five offensive rebounds.

Sarah Myhre, a junior, put pressure on Grand Rapids' inside game and was instrumental in getting their players in foul trouble. Freshman Claire Rodgers did a great job off the bench as well, according to Myhre.

Junior Jaimee Wickstrom racked up 18 points, sophomore Jessica Newman had 12 points and five rebounds and junior Leah Nordvall played stifling defense on the perimeter and contributed four points.

"We were very pleased with the performance of all of our players and would not have won without the positive contributions of the entire team," Myhre said.

Barnum (15-0 overall, 8-0 Polar League Conference) travels to Esko (15-1, 6-0) Thursday for a highly-anticipated battle.
