After suffering their first loss of the season, the Barnum boys basketball team rebounded on Thursday by thumping Silver Bay 84-29.
"The boys didn't take the loss to Pine City too hard," said Barnum coach Rich Newman. "We were able to work on a lot of things against Silver Bay and the guys stayed focused on what they needed to do. Silver Bay is down a bit, but we just went out and did what we were supposed to do and that was to play basketball."
The Bombers raced out to a 37-6 halftime lead and then set things on cruise control in the second half when they emptied the bench and pulled out to the decisive win.
Josh Earlywine, who scored 20 points, led a group of five Bombers in double-figure scoring. Also in double-figures were Willie Carlson with 17, Dylan Eggen and Micah Kantonen each had 11 and Kyle Grimm scored 10 points. Tyler Wekseth contributed four to the Bomber cause, it was three points for Alex Naslund and Frankie Barrios, Mike Gillivson and Alex Johnson each had a pair of points and Erik Johnson finished with a point.
Nate Fisher led the Mariners with eight points as no Silver Bay player made it into double figures.
