A rematch of the Section 7A girls championship game from last season took place on Monday night in Wrenshall where the Wrens took on the Barnum Bombers. Like last year the Bombers prevailed, this time by a score of 65-44.
"Wrenshall has a very good team and we had to battle hard for the win," explained Barnum coach Randy Myhre. "Our girls did a very good job against a very good team in their own gym."
Barnum took a 22-18 lead at halftime and then stretched the lead to double digits early in the second half on their way to a 21-point victory.
"We played well in the first half and trailed by four points," mentioned Wrenshall coach Neil Dickenson. "In the second half Barnum started converting on their three-pointers with Jessica Benson and Megan Myhre against our zone defense."
Colleen McKay finished with a 34-point game for the Bombers and was able to control the inside game against the Wrens.

"McKay dominated us inside," said Dickinson. "I felt that we did a good job on defending McKay in the first half and she still had 14 points at the half."
Jessica Benson finished with 11 points, Myhre finished with eight and Katrina Newman added 12 points.
"We got a great effort from all our starters," commented coach Myhre. "I also thought our girls played an exceptional second half."
Samantha Anderson led the Wrens with 16 points, Andrea Gould scored eight, Danielle Anderson contributed seven, it was six for Danna Anderson, Emma Grover scored five and Katie Manning finished with two points.
"Samantha Anderson had a good night in scoring for us," remarked Dickinson. "There is a reason Barnum is still undefeated this season. With great inside play, great shooters and solid aggressive defense, they are very good."
The Bombers are now 16-0 and ranked No. 3 in the Minnesota A-P Class A Poll.
- Last Thursday the Bombers picked up win No. 15 by routing McGregor 77-48 behind the 20 points of McKay, 15 points of Myhre, 12 of Katrina Newman and 10 from Jessica Benson.
