Bombers drop Bluestreaks, Rebels, Cards

On Tuesday night, the Bombers overcame a pesky Chisholm Bluestreak team by a 58-35 score. Katrina Newman led the Bomber scoring barrage with a 17-point effort, Megan Myhre chipped in with 14, Sarah Myhre added 10 points, Jessica Newman added eight, Leah Nordvall recorded four points, Jaimee Wickstrom finished with three and Darian Bushey notched a pair of points.

Barnum led 28-12 at halftime and cruised to a win.

Barnum opened this week with an 89-51 win over Moose Lake-Willow River Monday night.

The victory was the 505th career win for Barnum coach Randy Myhre which moved him past Tom Neibauer of Badger-Greenbush-Middle River and into seventh place on the Minnesota all-time career wins list.

The Bombers zipped out to a 46-21 halftime lead and continued to pull away throughout the second half. Megan Myhre led the offense for Barnum with 33 points, Jessica Newman added 16, it was 14 points for Katrina Newman, Wickstrom added 12, Sarah Myhre scored nine and Bushey added five points.

"We've been playing pretty well lately and we've been getting outstanding contributions from everyone," commented Barnum coach Randy Myhre. "We are getting great efforts from all of our players."

Katie Youngberg led the Rebels with 14 points, Allie Adamczak finished with 10, it was Karley Rentz recording eight, Candy Stepan finished with five points, both Hillary Peterson and Natasha Dragiecavich had four, and Peggy Stepan, Amanda Larson and Taryn Davis each finished with two points.

Barnum wrapped up last week with a 73-22 win over Cromwell Friday as Katrina Newman hit for a game-high 20 points, Megan Myhre added 17 and Leah Nordvall finished with 11 points.

The Bombers raced out to a 41-10 halftime lead and never struggled in picking up the win.

"We are taking care of the ball pretty well and playing solid defense most of the time," explained Myhre. "Our team has been shooting the ball well and we continue to try and get better as tournament time approaches."

Rounding out the scoring for Barnum were Bushey with six, Katie Myhre and Jenna Zmyslony with four points each and Wickstrom added three.

Barnum held the Cards to just seven field goals for the game.

Lisa Peterson and Ari Korpela led the Cards with six points apiece, it was Ashley Collman finishing with four, Tayah Johnson, Dana Elmer and Megan Shelton each had two.

  • Moose Lake-Willow River fell 55-46 to Virginia Monday, Feb. 11, despite leading 28-23 at halftime. Adamczak led the Rebels with 16 points, it was 11 for Hillary Peterson, Katie Youngberg scored seven, Natasha Dragicevich added six, it was four points for Rachel Mach, and both Taryn Davis and Candy Stepan scored a point.
  • Friday night the Rebels defeated McGregor 75-38 in a foul-filled affair. For the game the Rebels shot 24 free throws, making 18, while the Mercs shot 32 free throws, making just 13.

Dragiecavich led the Rebels with 13 points, Adamczak added 11, it was 10 for Mach, Peterson finished with nine, Peggy Stepan recorded eight points, it was seven for Rentz, Kathryn Coil finished with six, Candy Stepan and Taryn Davis each had three, it was two each for Amanda Larson and Maddy Adamczak, while Katie Youngberg scored a point.
