Barnum picked up a solid win over Floodwood last Thursday, and then on Saturday the Bombers suffered just their second loss of the season to Onamia.

In the 92-67 win over Floodwood the Bombers got a huge game from Willie Carlson who scored 39 points - including seven three-pointers - in the affair.

"It was a very physical game, like all our games have been," commented Barnum coach Rich Newman. "Teams seem to be trying to bounce our shooters around. Willie has been playing great basketball for us and we hope that continues."

Barnum was a model of consistency in both halves by scoring 43 in the first session and 49 in the second while limiting the Polar Bears to just 29 points in the first half.

Micah Kantonen, Kyle Grimm and Josh Earlywine were also in double-digits with 13, 11 and 10 points, respectively. Dylan Eggen and Jake Waseen both added six, Tyler Wekseth scored four, Alex Johnson finished with two and Frankie Barrios had a point.

"We had a great team effort against Floodwood," explained Newman. "Grimm played well inside, Earlywine had another solid game, Wekseth came off the bench and played good defense and Kantonen shot the ball well and rebounded well."

Ben Scharnberg had a big night for the Polar Bears with 23 points.

  • On Saturday the Bombers lost 60-57 in overtime to Onamia, dropping their record overall to 14-2. According to online sources the Bombers would be ranked No. 4 in the state in Class A despite their loss due to the strength of schedule that Barnum plays.
