In their vigilance to take a stand against breast cancer, Black Bear Casino Resort pledged to donate 50 percent of all proceeds from Friday and Saturday bingo games in November to the Duluth Clinic Breast Program for the second year. These proceeds help fund research, awareness and care through the Duluth Clinic Breast Health Fund.
This year, the Bear raised $39,695, which was presented to St. Mary's Duluth Clinic (SMDC) on Feb. 8.
"This is a very deserving program and the Bear is honored to participate," said Rocky Wilkinson, Black Bear Casino Resort marketing manager.
This year alone, an estimated 41,000 women will die from breast cancer and nearly 275,000 more women will learn they have breast cancer.
Last year, Black Bear donated nearly $9,000 to the Duluth Clinic Breast Program.
