In recent years, "imposter" hides boxes have been popping up around the state in very close proximity to Minnesota Deer Hunters Association (MDHA) Hides for Habitat drop boxes and resembling MDHA's boxes. This year, don't be fooled when you donate your deer hide. Be sure to look for the MDHA logo on the Hides for Habitat drop box to make sure you are donating your hide to support your hunting heritage.
A familiar question is "Where do the funds go?" When you drop your deer hide in a MDHA Hides for Habitat collection box your money stays in Minnesota and does great things to support our hunting heritage. Most importantly, the value of your hide donation is tripled in matching funds resulting in great support for Minnesota wildlife and our future youth hunters.
Since 1986, MDHA's Hides for Habitat program has generated over $3.4 million for critical wildlife habitat projects and your outdoor education, one hide at a time.
Locally, since 1996, the MDHA Carlton County Chapter has spent nearly $75,000 on habitat improvement in Carlton and St. Louis counties on tree planting, trail planting and seeding projects throughout the counties, over $15,000 has been spent on youth education programs such as the National Archery in the Schools Program, Firearms Safety Programs and sending youth to Forkhorn Camp, and nearly $23,000 has been donated to local organizations such as Carlton County Shooting Sports, PERM, Northwood's Shooting Sports Center, UFFDA and Make A Wish Foundation.
Contributing to Hides for Habitat benefits your local community and the efforts of MDHA's Carlton County Chapter. To donate your deer hide, simply drop your hide into an official MDHA drop box.
