Betty Rae Nee Foutch of Portsmouth, Va., passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, at the age of 65, in Sunnyside Nursing home in Cloquet. She had moved to Minnesota to be closer to her daughter in May of this year. Mary Elizabeth Rae Nee was born to Thomas B. Nee Sr. and Jacque (Turner) Nee on May 5, 1942, and was a long time native of the Portsmouth/ Norfolk area. She cared for her aging parents until their deaths. For many years she worked for and then retired from the city of Norfolk. Betty Rae traveled extensively abroad and loved reading and shopping. She was one of the last people to fly the Concord jet. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandson whom she loved very much. She was a smart and colorful person who will be missed by many. May her soul rest in peace.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father and her only brother, the Rev. Thomas B. Nee Jr.
Betty Rae is survived by her daughter, Raenee (Carl) Bennett of Carlton; son, Bill (Leslie) Foutch of Joelton, Tenn.; son, P.J. (Natalie) Foutch of Eldora, Iowa, and their son, Drake Hudson Foutch.
A memorial Mass was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at St. Francis Catholic Church, followed by a private graveside service at St. Francis Cemetery.
