Bert Steig Lindholm, 86, of Cloquet passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton. He was born April 7, 1920, in Morsil, Sweden, to Victor and Anna (Persson) Lindholm and they immigrated to Canada when Bert was five years old. Bert served as a Corporal in the Canadian Army for five years. He and his brother Bruno owned and operated Columbine Lodge on Clearwater Lake for several years, and then he moved from Fort Frances, Ontario, to Minnesota in 1953. Bert was a member of the Canadian Legion; and he loved hunting, fishing, looking for agates, and spending time with his younger brother, best friend and buddy, Bob.
Bert was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Kurt, Rueben, Gus, and Ralph Lindholm.
He is survived by four brothers, Bruno (Mary) Lindholm of Fort Frances, Ontario, Clifford (Ilene) Lindholm of Cloquet, Marvin (Irene) Lindholm of San Juan, Texas, and Robert (Isabelle) Lindholm of Cloquet; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 18, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Nelson Funeral Care, 1004 Cloquet Avenue, Cloquet. Interment services will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Cloquet, followed by a luncheon in the funeral home fellowship room.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Foundation or dementia research.
