For the second week in a row, a local basketball team has received the distinction of being named a Lynx Team of the Week. The awards are given each week to eight high schools in the state that earn the designation through their play that particular week.

This week, the Barnum girls basketball team was named after three straight wins, keeping the Bombers undefeated this season. Wrenshall was named to the honor the previous week.

The program is put together by the Minnesota Lynx professional women's basketball team and honors four boys teams and four girls teams weekly based on a number of criteria.

Barnum defeated Moose Lake-Willow River, Cromwell and Two Harbors over the past week and two players, Katrina Newman and Megan Myhre, were singled out for their strong performances in the three games.

The Lynx Team of the Week initiative is part of an off-season program the Lynx introduced this season in an effort to give back to the basketball community in Minnesota.
