It wasn't that long ago that many of the Barnum boys were playing basketball in the state tournament at Williams Arena and the Target Center. On Monday night, the Bombers played their second game of the season at the Metrodome with a 14-3 trouncing of East Central.
"It was a great experience," said coach Dave Duesler of his team playing in the Metrodome. "For us it was great just to finally get a game in."
Earlier the Bombers had opened the season against Royalton, but that was only after four days of practice and, according to Duesler, it felt more like a scrimmage than a game.
"This felt more like our opening day," commented Duesler. "Willie Carlson, Tyler Wekseth and Alex Johnson combined for a five-inning no-hitter."
Erik Johnson hit a home run, while Alex Johnson smacked out a double and triple for the winning Bombers. Jake Waseen added a triple.

"We had a couple of errors and a few walks that allowed the three runs, but overall it was a good game," mentioned Duesler. "What was great was that we were making contact with the ball and putting the ball in play. We had nine players who got a hit and 11 total hits."
The home run by Erik Johnson was a grand slam, which occurred in the second inning when the Bombers scored six runs. For the game Johnson had five RBIs and two hits.
"This was a good way to kick off the season for us," stated Duesler. "Hopefully we can go on and play good ball when we get outside."
