Alyce T. Tribby, 88, of Carlton, Minn., passed away Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at Inter Faith-Care Center in Carlton. She was born April 4, 1920, in Virginia, Minn., to August T. and Helen E. (Johnson) Holmquist and moved to Duluth at an early age....

Alyce T. Tribby, 88, of Carlton, Minn., passed away Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at Inter Faith-Care Center in Carlton. She was born April 4, 1920, in Virginia, Minn., to August T. and Helen E. (Johnson) Holmquist and moved to Duluth at an early age. She attended Denfeld High School in Duluth. Alyce was united in marriage to Emery Tribby on May 1, 1937. She was a member of J.M. Paine Memorial Presbyterian Church in Carlton where she was active with the Presbyterian Women's Association, bible study, choir, and was a representative to the Presbytery. She was also active with Christian Women's Association, Friendship Bible Coffee's, T.O.P.S., and the North Country Riders Motorcycle Club and did numerous rallies and motorcycle rides with Emery.

Alyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of almost 65 years, Emery Tribby; one sister, Virginia Schoffield; and one grandson, Randy LaVoie.

She is survived by her 13 children, Arnold (Roberta) Tribby of Sandstone, Clifford (Donna) Tribby of Duluth, James (Nancy) Tribby of North Aurora, Ill., Sandra (George) LaVoie of Carlton, Robert (Judy) Tribby of Wrenshall, Lawrence Tribby of Duluth, Sue (Jack) Enlund of Cloquet, Julie (Brian Russell) Beck of Biwabik, Karen (Gene Oliver) Tribby of Cloquet, Linda (Edward) Beck of Mora, David (Carol) Tribby of Carlton, Patricia (Steve) Gault of Carlton and Dale (Debbie) Tribby of Prior Lake; two sisters, Claire Sandberg of Duluth and Joanne Erdmann of Casselton, N.D.; 28 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 5-7 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Care, 1004 Cloquet Ave., Cloquet. The visitation will resume Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at J.M. Paine Memorial Presbyterian Church in Carlton, officiated by the Rev. Loren Nelson. Music will be provided by soloist Curtis Selen and organists Geraldine Selen and Kaye Manty. Alyce's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow in the church social hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Inter-Faith Care Center.
