The man struck by a vehicle in Cloquet on Sept. 16 remains in critical condition at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center, a hospital spokesperson said Tuesday, Sept. 28.

The pedestrian was in "grave condition," according to the Cloquet Police Department, after he was struck by a vehicle around 8 p.m. Sept. 16 near Doddridge Avenue and Eighth Street.

Criminal charges had not been filed in the case as of Sept. 17. Cloquet Police Chief Derek Randall told the Pine Journal on Tuesday that it appears the situation was an accident where the victim walked into traffic. The Carlton County Attorney's Office will review the case and determine whether charges will be filed.
