One man is dead following an ATV crash off the Golf Course Road in Holyoke Township in Carlton County on July 4.

The Carlton County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call about the crash shortly after 8:30 p.m. A 48-year-old man had been driving an ATV on property off the Golf Course Road. The Sheriff's Office reported that while no one witnessed the crash, it appeared the ATV was traveling down a hill when it rolled on top of the man, pinning him underneath.

Lifesaving measures were attempted on the man, however he was pronounced dead at the scene. He is reported to not have been wearing a helmet and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

The crash is being investigated by the Sheriff's Office and the victim's name had not been released as of Sunday morning.

The Minnesota State Patrol, Kerrick Fire Department, Moose Lake Ambulance and a Life Link III helicopter also responded to the incident.
