Power was out across much of Cloquet as of 12:45 p.m. Sunday after a transformer failed, police said.

The blown transformer was in the area of Fifth Street and Avenue F, Cloquet police said in a news release. Power lines were down, and police asked people to avoid the area.

The company’s online outage map showed much of the city being affected, with more than 3,000 customers without power.

Power was restored by about 3:30 p.m.

Police also asked motorists to use extreme caution while driving in Cloquet. Stoplights were not functional, and dense fog had blanketed the area.
