Three Cloquet Area Fire District stations responded to a house fire early Saturday morning at 1252 Mission Road, outside Sawyer.

Two people were present when the fire broke out and managed to escape the structure on their own before calling 911, Fire Chief Kevin Schroeder said. The roof had already collapsed and the structure was fully involved before responders arrived at the scene.

"This wasn't a real complicated fire, but it required us to haul water since there's no hydrants out there so we needed quite a few people to drive tanker trucks," Schroeder said. "That's why Carlton (Fire and Ambulance) was out there."

CAFD is still investigating the cause of fire.

"It will take time," Schroeder said. "There was pretty extensive damage out there."
