Carlton stores boast 2 Powerball winners
A Hibbing man is the winner of a $1 million Powerball drawing.
Emil Hakomaki purchased the single winning ticket at the Kwik Trip in Carlton on Saturday, June 9, according to a news release from the Minnesota State Lottery.
Hakomaki, a field service representative for heavy industrial process equipment, claimed his winnings Monday at lottery headquarters in Roseville, Minn. He told the lottery he has no plans to retire early.
The Kwik Trip, 1711 Highway 210, Carlton, will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
The customer who purchased a Powerball ticket in May at the Minit Mart, 405 Third St., Carlton, has yet to claim the $1 million prize. The winning Powerball numbers from the May 17 drawing are 3-6-9-17-56 and the Powerball number is 25.
“Powerball players in Minnesota have one year from the drawing date to claim any prizes,” the release said. “The $1 million prize must be claimed at lottery headquarters in Roseville.
