Cloquet seeks volunteers for July 4 events

Plans for the annual Fourth of July festivities in Cloquet are moving along, with more music on the ticket and activities from early morning through the fireworks that night.

The only issue is a serious lack of volunteer help, said Alyson Leno, who helps the volunteer committee coordinate one of the city’s largest annual celebrations.

Leno explained that the committee used extra funds to actually hire the company providing the bouncy houses and rock climbing slide to provide staff, which will reduce the number of volunteers needed at Veterans Park all afternoon.

“That will help, but we still really need about a half dozen volunteers to help in advance of the parade that morning, a few people for the afternoon and anyone who might be willing to help with set up the evening before and cleanup the next day,” Leno said. The holiday falls on a Wednesday this year.

Other possible volunteer jobs include helping with face-painting, stick-on tattoos and activities at Veterans Park.
