People who have holiday lights that no longer work or that they no longer need can recycle them at the Carlton County Transfer Station, 1950 Highway 210, according to a news release sent by the county.
The program recycles holiday lights for free, as well as electric cords. The transfer station is open Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
People are asked to remove all decorations from string lights; remove the lights from any type of plastic spool, cardboard packaging or plastic bags; and place the clean string lights in the appropriate box at the transfer station. Rope lights will be accepted.
Electric cords eligible for recycling include extension cords, appliance cords and telephone cords.
The material will be processed at a recycling facility to separate the recyclable materials, the news release said.
