The folks at Farm LoLa are ready with their 12 acres of honeyberries, a crop newly established last year at the Wrenshall pick-your-own farm. Berries are $6 a pound.
Owner Jason Amundsen is promoting it as a socially-distanced, family activity. "The fields are wide, and there's lots of fruit," he said.
New this year, people who are buying 10 pounds or more can borrow picking tools that make the job go faster.
Honeyberries, or haskaps, are native to Serbia and grow on a bush, according to a news release from the farm. They are oblong, deep blue in color and taste like a bright blueberry with a lemon finish.
