Ruby's Pantry

There are no income guidelines for this non-profit food distribution program. Distribution is the fourth Wednesday of every month at the Cloquet National Guard Armory, with registration at 9 a.m. and distribution at 11 a.m. Limit one share per family (with a $15 donation) to allow more in the community to benefit. Volunteers are always welcome.

UPDATE: Last week's Community Calendar announcement listed the wrong date. Due to the five-week month of March, Ruby's Pantry will take place on March 30.

Mom's Hockey Game

The Third Annual CEC Mom's Hockey Game will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 26, at the Cloquet Area Recreation Center. There will be a silent auction fundraiser that evening as well to benefit the CEC hockey associations.

Community Supper

A meal will be served at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 27, at the Presbyterian Church of Cloquet, 47 Fourth St. For home delivery, call 218-879-8813 and leave your name, address, phone number, number of meals, and where to leave the meal(s) if you are not home. The meal is free but donations will be accepted and appreciated.

Carlton County Council on Aging

Attention all seniors and caregivers: The council is sponsoring a meeting from 9:30-11 a.m. Monday, March 28, at Grace Baptist Church, 601 14th St., Cloquet. The guest speaker will be Sara Prosen, aging services planner at the Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging. She will discuss the role of the agency and will gather input on the needs of seniors and family caregivers in Carlton County. Everyone is welcome to attend. Minnesota Crime Wave

Come to the Moose Lake Public Library, 313 Elm Ave., at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 2, and meet Minnesota "Crime Wave" mystery authors William Kent Krueger, Carl Brookins and Ellen Hart, who have published more than 30 novels and have received nearly two dozen local, regional and national awards. Kids to Camp Spaghetti Supper

This fundraiser will be held from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at the Mahtowa Covenant Church. All proceeds will go toward camp fees for the children of the church. The cost is a free-will donation. Take-outs are available for pickup by calling 218-389-6307.

Pancake Breakfast

The Beehive Community Club's annual event will be served from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, April 3. Proceeds will go to the Barnum and Cromwell Scholarship Fund. Take Highway 61 to Mahtowa, and go west on County Road 4 for six miles. For questions, call Pat at 218-389-6886.

Grand Breakfast

All are welcome from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, April 3, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 60 Hartman Dr., Moose Lake. Sponsored by the Men's Club of Holy Angels Parish, this all-you-can-eat breakfast will be $6 for adults, $4 for children 6-12, and free for children 5 and under. Take-outs and delivery are available.

AARP Driver Safety Program

The schedule for April is as follows: Refresher classes will be held Monday, April 4, from 5-9 p.m. at Esko High School (to register call 218-879-4038); Friday, April 8, from 1-5 p.m. at the Cloquet Senior Center (218-879-4663); and Wednesday, April 20, from 5-9 p.m. at Wrenshall School (218-384-4274 ext. 1410). A first-time class will also be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at the Barnum School; call 218-389-0108 to register.

Indoor Baseball Camp

The Cloquet Stampede baseball team is holding a free indoor camp for youth ages 7-12 at 6 p.m. Monday, April 4, at the Four Seasons Sports Complex in Carlton. You must call to reserve a spot. For questions, call Mike Sickler at 218-269-5730.

Digital Photography Workshop

Learn the techniques of digital photography from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at the Cloquet Public Library, 302 14th St. The workshop offers classroom instruction and outdoor shooting for beginners and those seeking to improve their skills. Instructor is John Gregor of ColdSnap Photography and Waterfront Gallery in Two Harbors. Bring your digital camera and a lunch. Digital cameras will also be availble for class use. The workshop is free but limited to 15 adults; advance registration is required. Call the library at 218-879-1531. This workshop is made possible through Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Riverview Toastmasters Club

Christians In Recovery

A support group based on the non-denominational study of the 12 steps of recovery meets every Sunday from 7-8 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 601 14th St., Cloquet. Parking is in the rear of the church, which is handicapped accessible. Call Twyla at 218-428-1115.

Family Caregiver Support Group

Are you stressed out and need a place to meet others with similar concerns and struggles? This is an opportunity to exchange ideas and relax. They meet the first Thursday of the month (April 4) from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Lighthouse of Cloquet, 706 Horizon Circle, off North Road. Call Char at 218-522-0056 to reserve your place. The meetings are free and light refreshments are provided.

Weight Loss Support Group

Participants meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Cloquet Public Library, 302 14th St. Talk about the successes of weight loss, as well as the problems and disappointments of weight loss.

Contract Bridge
