"Fidgety Fairy Tales: The Mental Health Musical" will be performed at elementary schools throughout the region beginning Sept. 17. Public performances at the Encore Performing Arts Center in Cloquet will be held at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 22-24.
Approximately 25 performers will be needed for each touring troupe of six to eight people. Multiple children will learn each of the parts, which will allow for flexibility when scheduling school performances.
The musical was written especially for elementary-aged children to educate them on the damaging stereotypes of mental illness. Students will not only have fun and be entertained by the children in the play, they will also hear an important message that will help them gain a better understanding mental health conditions such as ADHD, depression and anxiety. The ultimate goal of the production is to lessen the stigma associated with mental health treatment and to promote positive images of children with mental health disorders
