The annual Carlton County Senior Health Fair on Saturday, Oct. 27, will provide education, screenings, visits with helpful vendors and a free lunch at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Esko. The free event for adults ages 50 and over will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Several free screenings will be available:
• Medication reviews;
• Female heel bone density;
• Balance assessment;
• Blood pressure;
• Memory screening;
• Foot checks;
• Diabetes questions answered.
A glucose and cholesterol screening will be provided; fasting in the morning is recommended. There is a suggested $10 donation for this screening, which will go to the University of Minnesota Duluth School of Pharmacy.
Flu shots will be provided by Carlton County Public Health nurses.
Educational workshops will be offered on topics such as hospice and medication effects on confusion, dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
There will be many vendors available to answer questions on their programs and services.
The workshops are 9:30-10:30 a.m.; free lunch begins at 11:30 a.m.
