Once you've secured your venison and made your sausage, enter it in the News Tribune's fourth annual Great Venison Sausage contest.

Every year, an independent panel taste-tests the entries and selects winners. Then, with your permission, we publish your tips for making better sausage.

New this year: gift certificates for the winners.

Entries are due at the newspaper by 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14. We welcome both individual and commercial entries of prepared sausages (none that require cooking).

We'll announce winners in our Sunday Outdoors section and publish the winning recipes -- if they're not secret. Questions? Call Kris at (218) 723-5322.

To enter: Mail your ready-to-eat samples (enough for three judges) to Venison Sausage Contest, Duluth News Tribune, 424 W. First St., Duluth, MN 55802. Or drop them off at the same address between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays. Include your name and contact information.
