DATES: Comment Due Date: March 3, 2022. Interested persons are invited to submit written comments regarding the proposed 2019 Flat Rents to the Cloquet or Carlton Housing Authority – 950 14th Street, Cloquet, MN 55720. There are two methods for submitting public comments. 1.Submission of Comments by Mail. Comments may be submitted by mail 2.Delivered by hand to the public housing authority office. All properly submitted comments and communications submitted to the housing authority will be available for public inspection 8:30 a.m. and 3:30p.m. week days. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION CONTACT: Debra Shaff, Executive Director The FY 2014 Appropriations Act requires PHAs to establish flat rents at no less than 80 percent of the applicable Fair Market Rent (FMR). However, if a new flat rent amount for a unit increased a family’s existing rental payment by more than 35 percent, then the new flat rent amount is required to be phased in as necessary to ensure that the existing rental payment does not increase by more than 35 percent annually. A public hearing will be held: Monday – February 28 – 2:00 pm in the Fireside Room at Aspen Arms – 950 14th Street – Cloquet and at 3:30 pm in the Community Room at Woodland Pines – 201 Spruce Avenue - Carlton. The purpose of the public hearing is for citizens to comment on the proposed flat rent increase. Members of the public, especially persons having low and moderate incomes, persons of color, and persons with disabilities are encouraged to attend and provide comments.
