Carlton Independent School District 93 Regular School Board Minutes-Monday, July 18, 2022 The Board of Education Independent School District 93, Carlton, Minnesota, met in regular session on Monday, July 18, 2022, in the Carlton Middle/High School Library. Emerson called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. The meeting continued with the Pledge of Allegiance. Members present: Emerson, Gustafson, Karp, Ojibway, with Superintendent Engstrom. Members absent: Hagenah, Szymczak. MOTION by Gustafson to approve the meeting agenda with amendment adding 9.1 regarding New Business was supported by Karp.* MOTION passes with an affirmative vote of 4-0. No Carlton HS Student Presentation was given. Public Comments were given. Presentation by resident Ed Kavanaugh seeking Board approval to move forward with a community funded “Resurfacing of the Tennis Court at South Terrace Elementary” for tennis and pickleball. Board consensus was to move forward with discussions with Mr. Kavanaugh, and possibly the City of Carlton, for the resurfacing. Congratulations and Commendations were given. Reports were given by South Terrace Elementary Principal Donita Stepan, Community Education Director Daisy Rose, Business Manager Norman Nelis, and Superintendent John Engstrom. MOTION by Ojibway to approve the Consent Agenda: • Approve June payroll for a total of $392,684.55 and wires summative at $124,608.79. • Approve the June finance checks in the amount of $248,491.25. • Approve the Minutes, June 20, 2022 Regular School Board Meeting. MOTION by Gustafson to approve transfer of $202,000 from the Committed Fund Balance (transportation) to the Unassigned Fund Balance for the 2022-2023 school year budget was supported by Ojibway. MOTION by Gustafson to approve the Carlton/Wrenshall Cooperative Agreement for MSHSLA including Junior High Athletics and the co-curricular activities identified herein, May, 2022 was supported by Emerson. MOTION by Karp to approve the hire of Tabitha Kusnierek as Food Service Director effective the 2022-2023 school year was supported by Emerson. MOTION passes 4-0. MOTION by Gustafson to approve the hire of Jessie Graddy as School Patrol Advisor effective the 2022-2023 school year was supported by Ojibway. MOTION passes 4-0. MOTION by Karp to approve the following Learning Camp Staff: • Kari Ries as Camp Coordinator at $1,000.00. • Megan McLain as Camp Teacher at $500.00. • Dalyce Gustafson as Camp Teacher at $500.00. • Emily Majewski as Camp Teacher at $500.00.
