Carlton Independent School District 93 Regular School Board Minutes Monday, March 21, 2022 The Board of Education Independent School District 93, Carlton, Minnesota, met in regular session on Monday, March 21, 2022, in the Carlton Middle/High School Library. Emerson called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. The meeting continued with the Pledge of Allegiance. Members present: Emerson, Gustafson, Karp, Szymczak, with Superintendent Engstrom. Members absent: Hagenah, Ojibway. MOTION by Szymczak to approve the meeting agenda with amendment to 12.0 Personnel was supported by Karp.* MOTION passes with an affirmative vote of 4-0. Carlton High School Student Presentation was provided. Scott Mader-Imagine Learning Rep. gave a presentation via zoom. No Public Comments were given. Congratulations and Commendations were given. Reports were given by PK-12 Principal Benjamin Midge, Community Education Director Daisy Rose, American Indian Education Coordinator Kevin Kot, Business Manager Norman Nelis, Superintendent John Engstrom. Board Committee Reports were given by Emerson. MOTION by Gustafson to approve the Consent Agenda: Approve February payroll for a total of $382,485.16 and wires summative at $123,343.12. Approve the February finance checks in the amount of $273,293.58. Approve the Minutes, February 28, 2022 Regular School Board Meeting. Approve the Minutes, March 14, 2022 Committee of the Whole Meeting. MOTION was supported by Szymczak.* MOTION passes with an affirmative vote of 4-0. MOTION by Karp to approve updates made to the 2022-23 School Calendar was supported by Gustafson. MOTION passes 4-0. Discussion on 2022-23 Budget Targets. MOTION by Gustafson to approve the resolution directing the Administration to make recommendations for reductions in programs and positions was supported by Szymczak. MOTION passes 4-0. MOTION by Gustafson to approve the continuance of the Family School Support Worker Program for a $7,232/0.5 FTE position for the 2022-2023 school year was supported by Szymczak. MOTION passes 4-0. MOTION by Gustafson to accept the resignation of Deb Coy as Peer Helper Advisor effective December 1, 2021 was supported by Karp. MOTION passes 4-0. MOTION by Karp to approve the hire of Amanda Radtke as Peer Helper Advisor effective March 1, 2022 was supported by Gustafson. MOTION passes 4-0. MOTION by Emerson to approve the hire of Tess Puidokas as Robotics Advisor effective March 1, 2022 was supported by Karp. MOTION passes 4-0. MOTION by Gustafson to approve the hire of Brenda Knudsen as Assistant Track Coach for the upcoming Spring Season effective March 14, 2022 was supported by Szymczak. MOTION passes 4-0. MOTION by Karp to approve the hire of Jessica Dixon as Bulldog Kids Care Aide $12.50 per hour for an estimated 20 hours weekly effective March 17, 2022 was supported by Gustafson. MOTION passes 4-0. MOTION by Karp to approve the Superintendent 1 year Extension with elimination of the 403B Matching\Benefits was supported by Gustafson. MOTION passes 4-0. MOTION by Karp to approve the position title change for Scott Bodin from HS Lead Custodian to Head Custodian per the Teamster I Contract at a $24.39/hr. rate, effective February 7, 2022 was supported by Szymczak. MOTION passes 4-0. MOTION by Karp to approve the hire of Kristian Herman as Baseball Volunteer Assistant effective March 14, 2022 was supported by Szymczak. MOTION passes 4-0. MOTION by Gustafson to approve the hire of Kyle Siiter as Baseball Volunteer Assistant effective March 14, 2022 was supported by Szymczak. MOTION passes 4-0.
