Carlton Independent School District 93 Regular School Board Minutes Tuesday, January 18, 2022 – 7:00 p.m. The Board of Education Independent School District 93, Carlton, Minnesota, met in regular session on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, in the Carlton Middle/High School Library. Emerson called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. The meeting continued with the Pledge of Allegiance. Members present: Emerson, Hagenah, Ojibway, Szymczak, with Superintendent Engstrom. Members absent: Gustafson, Karp. MOTION by Ojibway to approve the meeting agenda with amendments to 11.0 Future Meetings was supported by Szymczak.* MOTION passes with an affirmative vote of 4-0. Carlton High School Students from the Youth and Government gave presentations. No Public Comments were given. Congratulations and Commendations were given. Reports were given by PK-12 Principal Benjamin Midge, Community Education Director Daisy Rose, American Indian Education Coordinator Kevin Kot, Business Manager Norman Nelis, Superintendent John Engstrom. Board Committee Reports were given by Emerson. MOTION by Szymczak to approve the Consent Agenda Approve November payroll for a total of $373,719.28 and wires summative at $118,169.26. Approve the November finance checks in the amount of $304,362.74. Approve the Minutes, December 10, 2021 Public Hearing Minutes. Approve the Minutes, December 20, 2021 Regular School Board Meeting Minutes. Approve the Minutes, January 3, 2022 Organizational Meeting Minutes. Approve the Minutes, January 10, 2022 Special School Board Meeting Minutes. Approve the Minutes, January 10, 2022 Committee of the Whole Work Meeting Minutes. MOTION was supported by Ojibway.* MOTION passes with an affirmative vote of 4-0. Old Business MOTION by Hagenah to approve the resolution directing the Administration to make recommendations for reductions in programs and positions was supported by Ojibway. A roll call vote was called: Emerson-yea, Gustafson-absent, Hagenah-yea, Karp-absent, Ojibway-yea, Szymczak-yea. MOTION passes 4-0. Presentation of working draft of 2021-22 World’s Best Workforce Plan. 2022-23 Flexible Learning Year Application and Information. Appendix B Instructional Days/Length of Day. MOTION by Hagenah accept the resignation of Connie Reinke as Bulldog Kids Care Aide affective January 14, 2022 was supported by Ojibway. MOTION passes with an affirmative vote of 4-0. MOTION by Ojibway to approve Teresa Solomon as a Secretary Sub effective 11/16/21 was supported by Szymczak. MOTION passes with an affirmative vote of 4-0. Emerson called for a motion to approve the hire of Schedule C 2021-2022 Advisors: • Instrumental Music – Sharrie Janovick • School Play – Alyssa Olsen After the first call for a motion, there having been no motion received, Emerson called two additional times for a motion to approve the hires. Having received no motion to approve the hires as presented. The action fails, and the hires were not approved. Szymczak made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:34 p.m. and there being no further business with a second from Ojibway, the meeting adjourned by unanimous vote.* *Unless objection is raised following the call for motion and support, an affirmative vote is presumed.
