Volunteers are needed for the McGregor Marsh Scientific and Natural Area's Great Christmas Bird Count on Dec. 21.

This century-old tradition has participants as far north as the Arctic Circle and as far south as the southern tip of Argentina.

Meet at the Soo Line Trail access off County Highway 8 (South Maddy Street) in McGregor. The count begins at 8 a.m. Volunteers will take a census of the birds they find as they follow together along the trail and through the SNA.

Dress warmly and bring good hiking boots.
