Carlton native Sam Kavanaugh's "Jeopardy!" run has come to an end.
The 28-year-old finished third in Wednesday's episode, wagering and losing the full $6,000 he had earned heading into the day's "Final Jeopardy" round.
Kavanaugh incorrectly answered "Who is Marlow?" to the clue "In the 1670s English author Charles Cotton built a fishing cabin on the banks of the River Dove to honor this friend & author." The correct response was "Who is Izaak Walton?"
Kavanaugh, the son of two Duluth schoolteachers and now a teacher himself in Minneapolis, graduated from Carlton High School in 2009 and from Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., in 2013.
He leaves the show with a combined $156,202 from his five victories.
