All eyes are on Wrenshall this weekend as it kicks off two full days of events for "Brickyard Days in the Backyard" on Friday, Aug. 1, and Saturday, Aug. 2, in the field behind One Stop Market.

“The planning committee had dwindled down to nothing,” noted Chad Pfau, owner of One Stop, who co-organized this year’s event with his wife, Amanda. “We didn’t want to see this special event slip through the cracks. We decided to take it on ourselves since we have the opportunity and the location.”

The weekend begins on Friday with craft booths and vendors, a 5K Run at 7 p.m. at One Stop Market (register in the store or online at, and the Carlton VFW beer garden from 4 p.m. to midnight. The One Stop Market Grill will be open from 4 p.m. to midnight as well.

Bring your own chair (and the family as well!) for the River Rats Dueling Pianos Show from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Adults will want to stick around later to enjoy live music by Fatt Chance from 9 p.m. to midnight.

On Saturday, the day kicks off with a pancake breakfast at First Presbyterian Church from 8-10:30 a.m. The big "Parade on Broadway" hits the street at 11 a.m. To register, stop by One Stop in advance. Be sure to stick around for a breathtaking, not-to-be-missed flag tribute at 12:30 p.m.

There will be kids' activities all day at One Stop, featuring a “Kid Dig” at 2 p.m., where youngsters will have the opportunity to dig through a giant

sand pile for tokens good for bikes and other exciting prizes. There will also be live music all day at One Stop, featuring Briand Morrison and Roxann Berglund, and once again the Carlton VFW will host a beer garden from 11 a.m. to midnight.

The vendor area will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the One Stop Market Grill will be fired up from 11 a.m. until midnight. Enjoy the live music of "Basement Sessions" from 9 p.m. 'til midnight.

Saturday's feature attraction will be the Freestyle Motocross Stunt Show, with four big shows throughout the day in the field behind One Stop.
