SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES
April 15, 2019

The Wrenshall Board of Education, Independent School District No. 100, Wrenshall, Minnesota held its regular board meeting on Monday, April 15, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. in the Wrenshall Library Media Center. Chairperson Laveau called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Members present: Matthew Laveau, Janaki Fisher-Merritt, Michelle Blanchard, Warren Weiderman, Debra Washenesky, and Jack Eudy.

MOTION by Weiderman seconded by Blanchard to adopt the adjusted agenda. Motion carried unanimously.

MOTION by Fisher-Merritt seconded by Eudy to approve the consent agenda including checks #49789-#49903. Motion carried unanimously.

MOTION by Fisher-Merritt seconded by Eudy to appoint election judges for the May 14, 2019 School District Special Election as presented. Motion carried unanimously.

MOTION by Blanchard seconded by Fisher-Merritt to approve MDE positive Review and Comment to proceed with May 14, 2019 referendum vote. Motion carried unanimously.

MOTION by Weiderman seconded by Washenesky to approve 2019-2020 School Calendar. Motion carried unanimously.

MOTION by Blanchard seconded by Eudy to approve cooperative agreement with Carlton for Football program 2019-2020 and beyond. Motion carried unanimously.

MOTION by Blanchard seconded by Fisher-Merritt to adopt resolution relating to the termination and nonrenewal of the teaching contract of a probationary teacher. Motion carried unanimously.

MOTION by Laveau seconded by Weiderman to approve ED MN Wrenshall Snow Day Request. Motion carried unanimously.

MOTION by Blanchard seconded by Fisher-Merritt to approve hire of Christy Wilken School Psychologist for 2019-2020 school year per ED MN Wrenshall Contract 50/50 with the Carlton Public School District and Wrenshall holding the contract. Motion carried unanimously.

MOTION by Blanchard seconded by Weiderman to accept David Blinn secondary Science teacher letter of retirement effective June 4, 2019. Motion carried unanimously.

MOTION by Weiderman seconded by Washenesky to approve posting 1.0 FTE secondary Science teacher position effective 2019-2020 school year per ED MN Wrenshall bargaining unit. Motion was unanimous.

MOTION by Fisher-Merritt seconded by Eudy to approve posting 1.0 FTE K-12 Music/Band teacher position effective 2019-2020 school year per ED MN Wrenshall bargaining unit. Motion carried unanimously.

MOTION by Blanchard seconded by Washenesky to approve hire of John Peterson Head Varsity Volleyball Coach per ED MN Wrenshall contract effective 2019-2020 school year. Motion carried unanimously.

MOTION by Weiderman seconded by Washenesky to approve Ted Conover English teacher request for paternity leave effective on or around May 27, 2019. Motion carried unanimously.

MOTION by Fisher-Merritt seconded by Weiderman to approve Luke Wargin Social Studies teacher/Dean of Students request for paternity leave effective on or around April 18,2019. Motion carried unanimously.

MOTION by Blanchard seconded by Weiderman to approve 2019-2020 membership renewal for Northern Lights Special Education Cooperative. Motion carried unanimously.

MOTION by Fisher-Merritt seconded by Blanchard to approve Angela Anderson Business Manager and Kimberly Belcastro Superintendent as fully authorized and empowered to open a brokerage account, transfer, endorse, sell, assign, set over, and deliver any and all shares of stocks, bonds, debentures, notes, evidences of indebtedness, or other securities (including short sales) now or hereafter standing in the name of or owned by ISD #100 Wrenshall District, to purchase stocks, bonds, debentures, notes, evidences of indebtedness, and other securities (on margin or otherwise), and to make, execute, and deliver, under the official seal of this District, any and all written instruments necessary or proper to effectuate the authority hereby conferred. Motion carried unanimously.

MOTION by Weiderman seconded by Washenesky to accept with thanks the donations to Post Prom Committee from Northwoods Credit Union, Township of Silver Brook and FDL Development. Motion carried unanimously.

MOTION by Weiderman seconded by Eudy to accept with thanks the recent sponsorships for IMAGES from Bethesda Lutheran Church, Del Zotto, City of Wrenshall, Brickyard Restaurant, Wrenshall Fire Department, Cloquet Riverside, St. Francis, Silver Book Township and Wrenshall Township. Motion carried unanimously.
